All our interns are encouraged to provide us with feedback to help us develop more effective programs for future participants, and their invaluable experiences have guided how the program has developed into what it is today. Will you be next?
“I am very happy and pleased with my internship in Gawad Kalinga. I gained many experiences and a lot of knowledge during my internship. I now know how to participate actively for community building and nation building. Because of the motivation and inspiration of GK, which are the most valuable things I could get during my internship, I can stand up confidently for the poor. I would like to thank GK and GK 1MB for their supervision so I was able to reach my learning goals. I strongly believe that all of the valuable experience and knowledge I have received will be very helpful in my work in the community development of Burma.”
“My internship with Gawad Kalinga in the Philippines has assured my devotion and dedication to community development work. I realize that anti-poverty programs perceived as humanitarian work by others are nation-building for us (the third world). It is GK which has taught me how to really love my country and my people. It is this internship that has given me the courage and confidence to work with the grassroots and work for the grassroots. It is GK that has shown me how to be a productive citizen. The time in the organization was wonderful, inspiring and dynamic. Apart from that I learnt program planning, different community development approaches and the role of civic empowerment in nation building. I have been equipped by this internship with all necessary tools for my future plans. This has been a threshold of my commitment in the development field.”
"It’s worthwhile to be in a different environment which has its own weaknesses and strengths that I should learn and be aware of. I am getting a wonderful chance to increase valuable skills and knowledge through Community Legal Education Center (CLEC), Cambodia, balancing practical field work and education. In my school days, I was quietly listening to lectures designed by my teachers. Here, I set up my learning goals. I have to raise many questions with my teachers, such as my supervisor, mentors, colleagues and clients. I have to work hand in hand with my teachers for the successful implementation of CLEC’s activities. This is a real-world classroom. I gain new ideas that, I believe, are suitable, applicable and helpful to my community. Thank you Internships Asia for granting me this opportunity."
“Getting an opportunity to participate in the internship is a huge supportive learning experience for me. It provided me with experiences that I can’t get from any other kind of trainings. Working with team members from host organizations and participating in their activities as one of them is a really precious experience for me. It’s so true that most of the things in life can be learned only by doing!”
“Internship in Moo Baan Dek (Children Village School), Kanchanaburi, Thailand, has finished wonderfully. I had lots of valuable experiences and knowledge. Living in the Children Village is carved on my heart. It has very flexible principles, sociable staff, motivated environment and interactive students. This experience helped me to improve important skills to be a qualified teacher. Confidence, courage and skills I gained from my internship have helped me a lot with my teaching and conducting teacher training in my community. I really appreciate Internship Asia program officers, the Staff of Children Village School and everyone who helped me to on this wonderful internship program.”
“I achieved an organizational understanding, learnt functions of the team, and got chances to participate in several innovative activities while I was working with Education Foundation in Thailand. Staff members were supportive and devoted. I found out my talents and became more confident to do work.”
